Join us as we combat childhood illiteracy, one of the largest problems in the Greater Austin area, with adult volunteers reading to elementary students one-on-one, while supporting educators as they help children to learn and grow. Our Mission is simple, straightforward, and achievable…every child reading by the end of 3rd grade.

The Who

88% of students who failed to earn a high school diploma were struggling readers in third grade.

Education Connection is raising up volunteers to help combat this alarming statistic.

““Every year I am amazed at what God is doing… and the volunteers who dedicate their time every week!”"

The only requirements are that the volunteer must be at least 18 years old, be cleared by district(s) background check, complete Education Connection training, and commit to at least 30 minutes a week to read with students.

Registration will open August 2023 for the 2023-24 school year to volunteer to read with students.
